Nikah at Masjid al-Noor

Congratulations on taking this step. Marriage is a blessing and a Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, and a nikah is meant to be simple. Tell us a little about yourselves below and our marriage coordinator will be in touch to talk it through.

What a nikah involves

A short, dignified ceremony. These are the parts the imam will go through with you on the day.

  • Free consentBoth bride and groom agree willingly. No one can be married against their will.
  • The waliThe bride’s guardian, usually her father, takes part. If that’s difficult for you, tell us and the imam will advise.
  • Two witnessesAdult Muslim witnesses are present. The imam will confirm who can act as one.
  • Mahr مهرA gift from the groom to the bride, agreed between them. It is hers, and it can be modest.
  • Offer and acceptanceIjab and qabul, said clearly in one sitting, after a short khutbah and du‘a.
